Mastering the art of humor in leadership

Humor and leadership may seem like an odd pair, but a leader’s use of humor can significantly impact employees and work outcomes. While humor is increasingly seen as a valuable leadership tool, there’s a gap in guidance on how to use it effectively. To address this, we outline the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities leaders need to strategically employ humor at work, and we present a humor toolkit designed specifically for leaders. Our paper also explores how to ensure the successful transfer of humor training to the workplace, enhancing leadership behaviors through the use of humor.
